Brake Rotors
« on: November 21, 2010, 06:01:00 PM »

I know there have been several posts concerning brake rotors, but I have one question....

Would you recommend replacing the rotors on the Capri to someone who has never done it before and has limited tool resources?

I would like to replace mine, but considering brakes are sort of important, I don't want to screw it up and will just have it professionally done if need be.

Thanks,

Tony

The front rotors are "captured", the hub/bearing assembly must be taken apart to access the rotors.

I have a how-to on bearings, and the disassembly for rotors is similar. See if thats something you're willing to tackle.

The rear rotors, the bearings are actually pressed into the inside of the rotor. I've honestly never messed with them.

Thanks Rocket. I had seen that post before and I don't think that is something I am going to jump into. Looks like I'll be saving up to have it done by a pro.

I paid a machine shop $45 for each Hub to press the bearings, Pulling the hub off takes like 15 minutes. So throw in the Pads, seals, bearings and Rotors and that's your price.

You could also do this route then later on they are easy to change....

I priced the parts to do the upgrade and it was almost exactly the same
