Car is officially back on the road guys! I'll get pictures later, been a busy week. She runs well. I'm just going to enjoy the car as it is for the last few decent weeks of the year. I'll get back to playing with it once it's parked for the winter.

Now where's the car shows at?

Thanks man! I took it to work Thursday and Friday, and took my wife ad son and dog out for ice cream Saturday. It's got a little list of silly issues, but on the whole it's been entirely functional. My son is 3, and spent the ENTIRE ride to the shop screaming his little head off (excitement, not fear....I think).

Pretty much a dream come true. And I still have a pretty trashed interior and exterior to give some love. It's just the gift that'll keep on giving.

I like the 2 tone paint.  I'm planning to do something similar with the 91.

So it's been a wonderful two or three weeks of getting to enjoy the car, but it feels like winter is coming quick. I'm getting the "garage" ready to hide the car in until the weather is more cooperative. In the meantime, I think I want to do some work on the interior. Anyone done anything interesting with one? I might want to try re-wrapping the seats and some other stuff myself. It definitely needs a new carpet (after I fix the super leaky seam sealer in the front cowl), the headliner is saggy....all the usual old car stuff. Tiny interior, hopefully shouldn't be super time consuming.

I put MB SLK seats in mine and love them. The headliner is no big deal. Remove the cardboard headliner, pull the cloth off, sand the old foam off, contact cement on both pieces. When you are pressing the new fabric in place, use a thick piece of foam of something wide, if you use your fingers you'll leave finger grooves in the finished product. Ask me how I know.....lol

Ohhh man, have any pics of the SLK seats in there? You remember what generation car they came out of? That sounds quite nice.

They were mid 2000's I think. I just cut the tracks off, added a spacer and welded on some Capri tracks. I don't have an account to post pictures on here, sorry.

Last time I posted in this thread was 7 months ago, and I was still going on about seats back then. Well I finally got around to pulling the passenger seat out of my car - it's been giving me issues. The back likes to collapse, and the forward/rearward adjustment won't lock into place. Makes for an interesting ride for my wife.

Me being me, I then pulled the entire seat apart. Couldn't help myself lol. I'm pretty confident I could fix the adjusters if I wanted to...but holy crap is this thing gross guys. I dunno if it's the foam breaking down, or the wires and frame rusting, or the skin or dirt trapped in it, but there's SO MUCH red/brown dirt inside of this thing. Most of the hog rings disintegrated when I touched them, and the wire base is also falling apart.

I'll probably still waste my time trying to restore this seat, but now I'm also very much in the market for a pair of seats. I'm open to ideas.

Oh also, I've put 180 miles on the car now since the rebuild. Few hundred more and I can finally open her up all the way  ;D

Glad to hear it's going well for you. I lucked up on some MB SLK seats. They are power and heavy, but very comfortable and hold you in place for vigorous driving. I removed the MB tracks, installed a tubing spacer and Capri tracks.
