you squeezed a 12.9 out of your current 14b setup? That would be great for a daily driver which is what mine is.

Only problem I will have is that I am keeping my a/c unlike most here. That will create an issue when fabbing everything up on mine as compared to the setups shown here.

Texas heat isnt a joke and I HAVE to keep my a/c and power steering so I am sure my car will be slower than others.

I plan to do a fuel pump re-wire on the XR2 like most DSM'ers do to get more voltage and output out of the stock pump. I just added up what I spent on this thing in the past two weeks and its getting out of hand. LOL

I have the Rocketchip with ECU on the way and my 1.5" to 3" reducer to get crazy better flow over the stock unit and the intake I already have.

Looking forward to install the ecm, boost gauge, boost controller, and fuel pump re-wire to start having some fun with this car.

um no, i squeezed a 12.80 out of my current setup
im running about a 9.2-1 compression with a 14b at 18psi and every support mod available to be done to it...suspension, brakes, wheels (15 lb. 5zigen japan) tires (bfg g force)..

i have removed the a/c , power steering , front and rear bumpers, all airbag crap, all seats, (replaced the front with lighter racing seats with harnesses) everything out of my trunk..
(thats where the redtop optima resides)

i have a basic cd player with 4 speakers and tweeters... no subs or amps or anything heavy...

the car is now sub 2300lbs 12s are not easy to get to ..i fought my way there with research and drive to do so...
i smash evo 8s, wrx.stis, porsches, older vettes, mustangs, camaros, to an extent.. you can make a stang or marro run 9s if you want but most people that buy the mentioned cars dont mod them much .. who has the money to mod a 40,000 car??? besides void the warranty... ive beat a mazdaspeed 6 and a mazdaspeed 3...(3s are a bit quicker)...

now ive had my ass handed to me by a built civic ls v-tech, a 10 sec fox with a pro-charger, and an integra ls turbo...oh and my buddys cobra mustang... (its a 12.3 car) my buddy bryan smith put one of our b6t motors in a festiva and ran a 12.5, he was faster than me with less done to the engine but weighed about 1600lbs...

but yes im in the 12s and i drive it to work every morning ...rain, shine, snow, it dont matter.... its MY only car....

joshua, a fuel pump rewire consist of adding larger gauge wire like a 10 gauge for amp's from the battery straight back to the fuel pump. what this does is increase voltage to the pump which increases the output of the fuel pump.

it really helps up top (higher rpm's) where the fuel pump starts to drop volume and pressure. I will do a write up on mine and take some pics for you. a fuel pump re-wire is a must if you own a dsm but also helps every other car out there.

you only need the resistor pack if your going to run "low impediance" or "peak and hold" injectors
otherwise it is pointless...

and DSM stands for Diamond Star Motors.. and it truely stands for the first generation eclipse, talon, laser, cars... after that dodge got there hands in the mix and it became mitsubishi motors
but all mitsubishi is often refered to as DSM...

Hey Joe I got my hands on a set of DSM 450's but really thinking of using the t-bird's just to see how well they hold up.

I know the 450's will have enough but I am kinda iffy on running the lower fuel pressure to get it to run decent. Plus I know you said its pig rich up top with them.

The 450's are on their way here so I guess I will just keep crunching the numbers in my head to see what plays out. If I dont use the t-birds I will let you know since you were interested in finding some.

well it runs pig rich down low and below 4,000 rpm..up top im seeing 10.0-12.5 on my wideband witch is rich, but safe rich, not flood rich... but yea im running about 28-32psi of fuel press.
witch is not real low but stock there 35-40psi..

yea keep me in mind on those injectors...you shoulda told me ida traded the 450s for the 390s for a bit...Joe

ever thought of trying to good ol Apexi AFC to tune your car to its best potential?

I bet you could squeeze at least 10-18whp out of it.

it wont work becuase our VAF uses some weird 5-11 voltage signal instead of the normal 1-5.or whatever i just know it wont work unless you switch to the BP stuff and then you might as well use a haltech or a megasquirt so you can adjust timing curve too..

Yeah I am in the same boat.

put the capri on the lift yesterday and was inspecting everything underneath it and it all looked great.

I was looking at getting a downpipe made and it doesnt look like it would be real hard at allto get a 2.5" downpipe in there without having to trim the oil pan.

guess I will have to wait and see though.

Our airflow meters run a 7-9 or a 0-9v sweep, its been a while since I looked into it the info is in an old thread around here somewhere.

The AFC's are compatable with 0-5v VAF,MAF signals only. The AFC would not be able to tell the ECU properly what position the VAF is in when it cant provide full sweep voltages.

There was a guy in NZ making GM hotwire MAF conversion kits, it used the 3" MAF and then a mini-computer with a lookup table to emulate the VAF. Supposedly worked pretty good, I dont know if they ever finished making kits though. IMO its much easier in that point to wire in Megasquirt because the AFC and a MAF conversion are only bandaids while you can get some serious stuff done with MS or other standalones
