Well today's progress went pretty well. I installed the HKS SSQ and it turned out pretty well.

I also installed my blitz super street boost controller. I put the control unit in the glove box out of view for when the tops down. I installed the black box (brain) on the passenger side kick panel on the left.

I also drilled a hole in the firewall next to the throttle cable to run my pressure line for the brain, pressure line for the gauge, and wires for the boost solenoid.

tomorrow I am going to finish the wiring and making it all look stock and clean. Once I get it all together I have to figure out where to mount the boost gauge, and get my Rocketman chip to crank the boost up.

Pics to come tomorrow

Well I never finished the boost controller or the gauge install and jumped right to the intake. Reason being that I dont trust myself enough to have a EBC with no Rocketman chip or the gauge pod for the gauge.

So those things will be getting ordered today.

Here are the pics of the HKS SSQ I installed. I used a HKS adapter as well to hook it up to the stock pipe until I get the aftercooler pipes made.

Works just like it should and sounds mean even at 6 psi. LOL

And no it does not rub anywhere and has pleanty of clearance.

Next up is my intake install which I have taken a few pics of in case someone here like the way it came out.

First remove the intake box, and upper intake boot.
Next unbolt the coolant resevoir and place it aside. This will be relocated to clear the filter in the stock location.

Next remove this bracket

Now get a straight piece of metal ( I recommend 1/8" at least) that is pretty stout.

Drill two holes like shown below for the coolant resevoir.

Now use one of the stock bolts removed from the bracket you removed earlier and use the bolt hole to the left of the resevoir to bolt in place like so.

Should have some empty space now like shown

you will have to cut the outlet hose to keep it from hanging down past the air dam. looks like this all hooked back up.

Next bolt your MAF adapter up tp your stock MAF meter. I bought this off egay for $10 shipped.

Now I didnt get a picture of the next bracket but you will know which one I am talking about once you see the pics. It is the bracket that bolts up next to the battery and has a stud sticking out of it for the factory air box.

Break the stud off and drill a hole thru it.

You will now have to take the angle grinder or dremel tool out and hack a small section off so it bolts up to the coil. This is not a must for everyone but I do not want zip ties holding my ignition coil to something or just letting it hang somewhere.
Here is the section I chopped off.

You will use this bolt and nut that was originally used to hold the coil to the air box.

Here is what it looks like installed.

I bought the $20 spectre air filter from autozone since it was shorter and not as wide as the $25 one's that come in different colors.

I did not take pics of the bracket I made but you can see the two bends I put in it to keep the filter and MAF from flopping around and looking ghetto.

I also installed new front strut mounts as you can see. Driverside had no bearings and had fallen apart long ago. passenger side wasnt bad at all and only had a little slop in it.

I also installed the Apexi solenoid and just need to run the vacuum lines once the boost gauge installed.

All in all I liked how everything came out today. It doesnt look pieced together and keeps the MAF in the stock location. Later I will update with some mandrel bent pipes for the intake to replace the stock plastic and rubber piece.

Once the Rocketman chip and gauge pod get here I will update the thread with some more pics.

Hope this helps someone since there is not to much "how to" around these wood.

the guy i had make my intake pipes told me today when i picked up josh's that he would be willing to fab things for us. so if you want an aluminum pipe for the throttle body and J pipe let me know. he is also willing to make manifolds as well. i plan on getting him the stock examples soon to make one.

well today went pretty well. I received my parts from Gostlrs today. I installed the driver side foglight backing and the whole unit.

Also installed the driver side headlight motor and it works great.

I had a set of stock wheels off my old 92 GVR4 that I plan on throwing on the XR2. Degreased them and getting them ready to be sandblasted and touched up. They will be getting the common flat black theme with a thin red stripe down the center of each star.
