'94 XR2 Resurrected
« on: July 04, 2008, 03:06:00 AM »

9 months into the project, another '94 XR2 is back on the road up here in Boise, Idaho.  Picked this car up out of the Seattle area after it had been hit in the front.  Had to do a little tugging on the frame (and things still don't line up "perfectly"), but it didn't turn out too bad considering my limited skill set - and even more limited budget.  OK, so go ahead and beat me up for putting a '91 front end on it.  As you know, parts for a '94 are hard to find and expensive - and non-existent up here in the land of potatoes and blue football turf.  Someday maybe I'll try to restore it to a "pure" '94 with correct amber lenses and all, but for now I just wanted to get it back on the road and enjoy it!  Figured it's lost some collectible value anyway after being hit.  Although, fortunately it does still have a clear title.  Has 118K on it.  Used to be Reef Green (with a red front end and roof), now it is Electric Blue Metallic - a color stolen from the Mini Cooper line-up.  She's runnin' great, just needs a couple tires to smooth out the ride.  May consider performance upgrades down the road, but for now I need to focus on dodging bill collectors.
Mike

Hey Mike! If you choose to install a boost controller go to links here in the forum and you'll find 2nerfixx. click on him and order his kit. He has them on Ebay for 43.95. It's complete with clear instructions and he's an active and helpful member of our forum. Did I mention I have two of his kits in my cars.  Gus.

Nice job!!  The color looks great!  on't sweat the front end - You'll come across a 94 front, and when you do, you'll be all set!!
