Needs polishing and a few plastic bits, but otherwise all there, all working and all original.

Thanks, right place right time. Must find a better cupholder, though. When the turbo lights up, any drink sitting in what came in the car leaps into the back seat.

Check with Russ. He might have one of the indash ones that go under the stereo.

Found a deeper one at Autozone that fits tight into the original and solves the problem. Passengers can fend for themselves.

After running it a bit and checking its history I figure I'm looking at 3 major costs down stream. Timing belt(car has 88k and no history of it being replaced) plus water pump for grins since it will be easy once it's opened up. Windshield (not urgent but has a 6-8 inch crack running laterally below the wipers). Top only has about one more season in it. Anyone here have experience with the original "Cabrio Vinyl"? It can be had much cheaper than fabric but the one on it is fabric and the guy I bought from had it 12 years without changing which I find impressive.

Other than that, a thorough detail, buff and wax to bring the paint back, some plastic bits (one round cap in the hard cover and other bits covering the hard top attachment points) saddle soap and conditioner for the seats and it'll be ready for road tripping.

Fun as it stands.

These are non-interference engines. So if the belt breaks there will be no damage to your engine.

Russ sells both tops with instructions for install

If you do the timing belt & water pump I would suggest the head gasket as well. Just a little more work & save you from going back in later on if it blows.

I have free glass replacement with my insurance....  :D

Jamie,

There's absolutely no need to replace the head gasket while doing the timing belt. They're not a problem item on the Capri.

For me... preventive maintenance. I have all the things off already to knock it out. what is a few more bolts to remove the head. Remember I live in Arizona & all the cars here fail at a higher rate. The 94 Xr2 I have now has a bad one.
