Rocketman's Rocketchips
« on: June 17, 2007, 04:05:00 AM »

Ok all you Turbo people -

I can chip ECU's for up to 16PSI of boost. I've been working pretty much all spring on this project, I have several people testing my chips with great success.

I'm making a page on my website about them, but its not up yet. In the meantime heres the important details:

-Raises Boost Limit to 16PSI
-Richens Fuel Map
-Increased/ Custom Rev Limits

I am charging $150 for this upgrade. That includes   socketing the ECU, programming and installing an aftermarket EEPROM chip, and shipping back to you.

If you want I will also return the stock chip with the ECU so if you want to revert to stock, simply take the cover off the ECU, unplug the RocketChip and plug in the stock chip.

Turnaround time is about as fast as Priority mail moves.

I can also modify N/A chips but to what extent I dont know. I dont have an N/A car to test it on.

I'll be away on holiday next week, so I'll start taking orders when I get back.

Do you have a 16 psi dyno with the plot for your AFR plotted, that would be awesome.  Is there any way that you can provide an ECU instead of my car having to go out of commision while it gets mailed to you and back?  Did you copy someone else's mapping or did you ake it yourself?
Thanks

I dont have a dyno run yet - its in my schedule (*somewhere*. heh). I am running a Wideband O2 sensor right now, and in the lower rpm's it in the low 13's mid 12's and high RPM its near low 12's.

Yes I have a spare ecu I am willing to use for an exchange service.

I didnt copy anyone elses work. I've looked at other chips to see what they have done, but I have not copied anything. After testing the other chips I found a few issues with them that I didnt have in my own chip.

Like I said I'm working on a site that will have the fuel maps laid out in graph format so you can see whats been changed there.

That's way bad-ass I'll probably be in touch after I finish a few other mods.

These cars SCREAM at 16PSI. Easily puts you back in your seat, especially if you have supporting mods to accompany it. (good intake, free-flowing exhaust, good spark plugs, ect)

I will be bringing my equipment to the MACG so I can chip ECU's there. We'll try to work out a deal for anyone that buys one there.

Is that the meet in Rockford?  If so, I'll be there if my car is still road worthy.  I'm looking for a demo drive/ ride.     Will it boost the stock turbo to 16 psi, and do I need to adjust something so the turbo spins that fast?

The chip only alters the engine management to safely run more boost. You have to remove the boost cut switch (or just disconnect it) and you need a boost controller to allow the turbo to boost higher.

There are electronic and manual boost controllers. The manual ones are cheap and effective enough. I have one in my XR2. They intercept and alter the boost line to the wastegate and fool it into opening later and at a higher PSI.

By the way... this is true in my car... just to put this into perspective... my Capri is faster than my buddies 1989 Mustang GT 5.0
All I've done is add the RocketChip, manual boots controller, new Blow Off Valve, and new spark plugs that are 1 or 2 degrees cooler than stock. I also have the strut bar, but that doesn't really effect acceleration much. The chip is well worth the investment.

Are you still using the stock injectors and pump? How does it react under less than WOT conditions?

Yes still using stock injectors and fuel pump. Really dont need much more untill you get over the 200hp mark.

Off boost, and under partial throttle, its like normal. Its usually much peppier, becuase of the boost controller.

Gas mileage is the same as long as you keep out of the throttle, I got 35mpg highway the last long trip I took.

I just sent you the PayPal.  I can hardly wait...

By the way, what were the references to MACG and Rockford?  I haven't been on lately, so I didn't hear about it.
