I've read that works very well too but I haven't tried it. On my original one I slit and re welded it but I wasn't too happy with that.

Heyt Josh! I tryed once on whacking the ball with-out cutting it and ended up collpseing the ball. It's best to cut it first and then spot welding it with a wire feed or using mapp gas in a torch and siler brazing it. Gus
