pistons?
« on: November 12, 2011, 05:05:00 PM »

The only piston that I can find anywhere are Wiseco pistons! For the Miata... They are expensive! Has anyone every used these before? I just am unsure because i don't know if they use the oil squirters or not... Any help would be appreciated...

For some reason when i tore my 91 turbo down, cylinders 1 and 4 have little dimples in the piston heads on the upper rim, nothing in the dish, and the same marks on the heads. It blew the head gasket before this, but i am unsure whether it had anything to do with it.... About 15 or so per piston. It looks like someone hit them with a punch or something... Hopefully they are salvageable but if not i will have to get the Miata pistons.

You're desribing detonation pits - were you running extra boost without a chip? or extreme overboosting, nitrous? (its unusual that only two cyls would do that)

There's Wiseco, they make a very good piston.
SuperTech also makes good pistons, but I'm not sure on the price. There's many out there.

I have a set of pistons from an N/A for sale if you're interested, I think these are 9.4:1 CR
