Ignition Help (KEY BROKE)

Im buying a Capri xr2 But the key is stuck in the ignition! So how do i go about getting a new key? That was his only one so do I have to replace the whole thing where key goes into? Any one know where i can order that?

Silly question, but did you push the button that is located under the steering column? That would allow you to turn the key back the rest of the way, and remove it.
If that is not the problem, and you want to replace the lock cylinder assembly, call me - I have one sitting right here on my desk! 503-919-4227

If possible, get all the locks from a 94. Then you have 1 key for everything....

Not the one I picked up...Same key opened the glove box, doors,trunk, convertible boot & started the car. I sold them on here to someone & cant remember who. It was even the OEM Ford key....

Idk dude, my 94 XR2 has two separate keys, so do Russ's 94's that I worked on

The odd thing is my 91 xr2 uses the same key for everything as well, but my brothers capri is a 93 and has the two seperate.  So now I'm wondering if maybe it was an option?

I think my igniton key can do everything as well, but the other key can only open the glovebox/vert boot/trunk?

Both 91 XR2's & the 93 XR2 I had were like this...

Ignition & Doors same key

Glove Box, Trunk & Top Boot was a different key


But that 94 NA I picked up had only one key & worked on everything.

Maybe if they replaced the cylinders over time they got them re-keyed to work with the master key? I just assumed it was a 94 option since all the cars I seen 91-93 were the same & that was the only 94 i dealt with.
