Hi capri group....I finally had my turbo rebuilt and now my car does not smoke like it use to...but it is making a grinding noise?  I was told to change the bypass valve.  Is that right...if so...I cannot find one...HELP!

Once again I turn to the greatest capri help group ever.

Is it grinding? Or is it closer to a mooing or flapping noise? If it is then yes its your bypass valve.

Grinding doesnt sound like the BPV, mine sounds like a high pitched moo. My gf thought there was a ghost under the hood. I wanna replace mine with an SSQV.

It's kind of hard to describe...i would say it's a high pitch moo.  Also turbo is not as powerful as it was before it was rebuilt...do you think they screwed it up?...I don't see how.

Hey Annie!  You didn't forget to mention rebuild of turbo. But maybe your description of noise needs better splainin', eh Lucy. Is it mooing or a grinding. Did you check the turbo for free spin before resetting it? Cause a grinding would mean the turbo fins are hitting the housing, not good! I myself have often wondered hat all the mooing is about, so I've learned from your question. At least now I can stop looking over my shoulder wondering if I'm going to get trampled by the ensuing stampede under my hood. Also how much boost are you showing in regards to less power and check your dist timing, 12 degrees.  Good Luck Gus.

double check all the vacuum lines. the noise you hear is more then likely the air going back into the intake pipe from the BOV. mine makes the same noise and i can't wait to put on a aftermarket one myself

bypass valve....bov.....eish...so many things to check...so little time to drive it.  I am an idiot with turbos and I am trying to understand the knowledge of it by reading the other posts..but it throws me in a loop.  What's the difference between the two and how do I check them?

Click here for an Ebay auction that is selling the item that will help you out.

something like that would do nicely, I think Grant is running something very similar to this
