Xr2 Compression
« on: March 11, 2009, 04:16:00 PM »

my capri runs terrible if it starts. marks seem
to line up on timing belt but, compression is
only 140 on all cylinders, this seems low.
does any one know what compression should be?
thanks

140 isn't too low did you squirt some oil in the cylinder to see if it came up any? If not you may need a valve job. The most important thing is consistency across the cyclinders. If all are at 140 I wouldn't be looking at compression. No power could be many things. I use platinum plugs and high boost. Most people don’t believe platinum’s will wear but under high boost they actually do. I notice a distinct power improvement after cleaning and re-gapping.  Timing could be off there could be oil coating the inside of the intercooler or even turbo problems. Start with the easy stuff work toward the harder.
