Spring oil change

What do you all think is the best additive to help clean out the sludge etc. I have heard about people adding transmision fluid,B-12,sea foam etc and letting the engine idle before draining it.Or should I just buy one of the products designed for this?Rocky

Seafoam is advertised as being able to be put through the crankcase just before an oil change. I'm pretty certain you're not supposed to drive with the mixture - but apparently it works well. Personally I've only used it via vacuum induction, but I've heard really good things about it cleaning the crankcase.

you put it in your oil and drive for about 5-20 minutes at highway speed then change your oil, doing that this week actually!

Drive it for a while...worst it'll do is cause leaks by removing sludge that's sealing your engine.

The people I know who use seafoam, both from work and from the Geo community, all do the full treatment, but they run the engine at high idle.  With it billowing black smoke out the back and just about to stall until it runs clear.

I wouldn't use it in a turbo engine unless you want to have it rebuilt.

Worst it will do is burn out all your bearings because the oil is too thin to lubricate properly...???

Don't drive with it.

I wouldn't hesistate to use it in any of my engines, turbo or nonturbo.
