I cleaned the fuel pump ground. What did you use to clean the surface of the tank? I used a small file on the gromet nut. Anyway,no change in performance.On to the next guess!Rocky

My friend has a bunch of Escorts-we wanted to swap one and see if that was it? So if it works how much,and are turbo na the same?Rocky

If swapping the tps, there is an adjustment procedure. the book has a resistance reading one, and when Ford did mine, they got a voltage reading procedure from the Ford Hotline. That was posted here somewhere....

Fixed!Thanks for all the help. New plug wires did it. Had a pro(friend) make new grounds for the 3 by thermostat.etc.Lots of little things together made a pretty big problem. As soon as I get my boost guage installed I am gonna turn it up to 16lbs.Thanks again,Rocky.

No, I checked them. I didn't look at the distributer end carefully. #1 was all messes up.

glad you got it figured out! I still wonder why if the wires were bad why the problem was there with the tps inline, but without it the problem seemed to go away.... doesn't seem right to me.

I never touched the TPS?  O2 sensor was un plugged,didn't help.Grounds need to be weather proof, I found this out the FIRST WINTER I drove the car!Rocky
