does anyone know how to check the check engine light from the ecm   i know you put a wire from one plug to another and look on the dash for the light flashes  but which ones??? thanks

someone has to know   because how are you checking the codes for the check engine light ??? i am working on fixing the crank pulls right not now  but i would like to know how to check the codes when i get it running again

You have to jumper the green connector IIRC...but there are 3 wires going into it. I am not sure which of the lines it is.

If I can dig up my manual I'll try to find out for you.

Ground the STI connector RH rear corner of engine compartment. Mine is green. The wire will be yellow.

i used to go to advance auto parts and have them plug their scanner into the car... then someone broke it. Now they only have odb2 scanners.

it should work, as i believe our cars are fitted with the EEC-IV system, which this thing reads

We have MECS (Mazda Engine Control System). The OBD1 scanner might be able tell you basic info but from what I understand its not fully OBD1 compatable.
