cold start revving!

Every time I start my car cold it immediatly revs itself to 2500 and holds there for 30 seconds the drops and holds at 2000.  After that it will continue to idle high till the car is warm then will idle fine at 1500.  If I start it while warm it idle fine, but another weird idle speed i noticed is anytime I drive it for over 30 minutes it idles at 800 rpms and sputters.  I can usually get the sputtering low idle away by revving it a few times before letting it idle when its hot.  Any ideas why its all weird?  otherwise the car runs perfect...

Normal idle is 850-950 RPM. The capri has a mechanical cold start fast idle valve portion, and you can see 2000RPM plus when it's very cold out.

It sounds like you are idling too high. let the car warm up, use the idle setscrew on the throttlebody and adjust the idle to 850-950.

Also, make sure your ignition timing is set correctly. Changing the timing can affect the idle speed.
