91 Capri Died after hard clutch

my 91 Capri died this morning after a hard clutch turn (Was turning into a street quickly and gave a little to much gas. Car cranks over but no fire. and i hear and smell gas so not a fuel pump issue. i smelled what a burned rubber smell after this occurred... any ideas...

I know you're saying you're getting fuel... wild guess though... check the rollover switch in the trunk

If that's not it, you have fuel, how about spark? All the intake piping solid (nothing dislodged?)

Timing belt.....

I only say this because same thing happened to my son on his 300zx

bad thing about that is...interference engines...enough said

my money is on the belt..


i had no idea the Z was interference. Sucks...

once the DSM is driving daily..i will do the head gasket and timing stuff because i know that engine is..I had a belt throw on me 100 miles after getting installed..

Drag, man.  Happened with my old 307 Nova.  I drove to girlfriend's house, stopped the car.  Chain must have broken right then because when I came out to leave and turned it over, it wouldn't stare, but all hell broke loose and it was time for a valve job.  In '71, that 307 came from the factory with 8.5:1 compression.
