Swapping covertible fabric?

So, I got a one year old top on a bent top frame, car was t-boned.  Its a very nice canvas top.  Anyone think it would be worthwhile to try to remove the fabric and transfer to another frame?  I have several frames with ragged fabric.  I have never replaced the top fabric before, so don't know the issues...Chris
